Correlation of Punitive Damages and Compensatory Damages

Figure 3 contains two scatterplots.

 

The first shows the relation between punitive and compensatory damages in jury trials.

The second shows that relation in judge trials.

Questions

1. Does your eye detect a possible pattern of positive linear correlation?

2. Which kind of trial appears to have the steeper correlation?
